Definition: what a book publicity press kit does
A book publicity press kit, which C.S. Lewis & Co. Publicists calls a media kit, is a reference package that television and radio producers, journalists, print and online editors, and bloggers use for background material, reviews, story ideas, interview topics, and by-lined articles. It is not the campaign itself. It is the tool the campaign runs on. The kit goes out with the book, and a publicist then follows up with each contact to turn interest into a booked interview, a review, a feature, or an op-ed. A strong kit makes the author look like a newsworthy expert in their field, which is the position the firm aims to build for every client.
